March 10th, 2015 The Queens MAA will play the Con College Thunderhawks for the in the gold medal championship of the Womens Super Loop Hockey League on Sunday at 930 AM at FWFN Arena.The Lakehead University Thunderwolves will play the Queens MA in the bronze medal game at 1100 AM.The QueensMAA advanced with a 4-0 shutout of the LU Thunderwolves, while the Thunderhawks defeated the Queens MA 3-1 to claim the second spot. Samantha Isbell led the Queens MAA with 2 goals while the Thunderhawks goal by Drue Ahola midway through the third period proved to be the game winner.


March 10th, 2015 The Con College Thunderhawks defeated the Lakehead University Thunderwolves 3-1 in Womens Super Loop Hockey on Tuesday night. Drue Ahola paced the way with 2 goals and Taylor Basaraba added a single. Replying for the Thunderwolves was Michelle Carlson.The Thunderhawks will now meet the Queens Midget A in their first playoff game while the Thunderwolves face-off against the Queens Midget AA in their opener on March 28 at FWFN Arena.


March 1st, 2015 The Bamtam AA Queens defeated the Lakehead University Thunderwolves 3-2 in womens exhibition hockey Sunday. Brooke Herman scored 2 goals in the first period only to have Michelle Carlson reply with a pair for the Thunderwolves.Molly Kunnas scored the game winner in the third period to clinch the win for the Queens. The Thunderwolves next Super Loop game is this Tuesday at 9PM against their rivals the Con College Thunderhawks at Grandview.


February 24th, 2015 The Con College Thunderhawks scored 3 Unanswered third period goals and went on to defeat the Lakehead University Thunderwolves 6-3 in the Womens Super Loop on Tuesday night .Taylor Basaraba lead the attack with 2 goals and singles went to Drue Ahiola, Lindsay Bowman, Lexi Williams and Tiffany Frost. Lakehead goals were by Melissa Plug and Lauren Haskell.


February 11th, 2015 The Lakehead University Thunderwolves Womens Hockey team defeated the Queens Midget AA club 2-1 at FWFN Arena on Wednesday in Womens Super Loop hockey. Scoring for the Queens was Teresa Rogalinski while Lakeheads goals were by Melissa Plug and Farrah Nicholl. Missy Wilcox had 2 assists. The next action for the Thunderwolves will be February 24 against the Con College Thunderhawks.


February 7th, 2015 The Dryden Eagles and the Lakehead University Thunderwolves Tied 2-2 Saturday night in the Womens Super Loop Hockey at FWFN Arena. Dryden goals were scored by McKenna Corveld and Kyla Lindquist. Thunderwolves goals were by Cassidy Hoedl and Farrah Nicholl.Next Thunderwolves game is Tuesday against the Quuens BAA at 730 at Grandview Arena.


January 20th, 2015 The Lakehead University Thunderwolves Womens Hockey Club split two games this week. The first game against the MAA Queens was a 4-2 loss with Hope Fullum scoring both goals for the Thunderwolves. In the second game goals by Alicia Todd, Lauren Haskell, Hope Fullum, and Farrah Nicholl paced Lakehead to a 4-1 victory over the Queens BAA. Molly Kunnas replied for the Queens. This weekend Lakehead is on the road for two games against the Dryden Eagles in Womens Super Loop play.


January 6th, 2015 The Lakehead University Womens Hockey team were defeated 7-1by the Queens Midget A in the Womens Super Loop play last night. Jacqueline Desimone had 3 goals and Whitney Scott with 2 led the scoring for the Queens.Single goals went to Jordyn Paris and Mikayla Sparks. Martina Wintle was the goal scorer for the Thunderwolves. The next game for Lakehead will be Saturday at 7PM against the Dryden Eagles at FWFN Arena.


December 5th, 2014 The Thunderwolves completed the first half of play with a 4-2 win in the Thunder Bay Super Womens Hockey League over the Dryden Eagles on Saturday night at FWFN Arena. Melissa Plug led the way with 2 goals Alicia Todd and Hope Fullum added single markers. Replying for Dryden were Liv Carter and Cara Balla.The win ups the Lakehead record to 6-8-3 on the season.


December 4th, 2014 The Lakehead University Thunderwolves defeated the Con College Thunderhawks 2-1 at FWFN Arena on Friday night.Scoring for Lakehead were Emily Martin and Alicia Todd while Drue Ahola had the Thunderhawks marker. Carlie Pennock was solid in goal for the Thuinderwolves as the college pressed with an extra attacker out in the final minute to try and tie the game. The Thunderwolves next game will be Saturday at 730 PM at FWFN Arena.


November 25th, 2014 The Sport- top Queens Midget AA defeated the Lakehead University Thunderwolves 4-1 in the Womens Super Loop Hockey League on Wednesday night at FWFN Arena.Stefanie Hayward lead the attack with a goal and 2 assists. Other goal scorers were Kaitlin Howarth, Paige Sullivan, and Allie Fairbarn. The lone goal scorer for the Thunderwolves was Melissa Plug. With the loss Lakeheads record drops to 4-8-3 on the season. The next action for the Thunderwolves will be Dec. 5-7 in the Queens Showcase tournament.


November 16th, 2014 The Lakehead University Thunderwolves Womens Hockey club defeated the Dryden Eagles 2-0 to win the Consolation at the Caribou Classic tournament Sunday at FWFN Arena. Scoring goals for the Thunderwolves were Hope Fullum and Lizzi Vanderwey. Carlie Pennock posted the shutout in net. Next Super League action is Wednesday at FWFN with the Thunderwolves playing the Queens AA at 6PM.


November 14th, 2014The semifinal teams have been determined with the host Con College Thunderhawks playing the Winnipeg North Stars while the Queens Midget A team will face the Winnipeg Silvertips in the second match. The Consolation final has the Dryden H.S. Eagles will take on the Lakehead University Thunderwolves. All games are at FWFN Arena starting at 8AM on Sunday.


November 3rd, 2014Two goals by Whitney Scott powered the Queens Midget A team to a 3-1 victory over the Lakehead University Thunderwolves on Tuesday in the Thunder Bay Womens Super Loop league. Makaylka Sparks added the other goal while Farrah Nicholl replied for the Thunderwolves.Next league game is Wednesday between Queens AA and Confederation College. The Thunderwolves next action will be Nov. 14-16 in the Caribou Classic hosted by Confederation College Thunderhawks.


October 29th, 2014 The Queens Midget AA defeated the LU Thunderwolves 4-0 last night at FWFN. The goal scorers were Laura Deschamps,Briana Prete,Allie Fairbarn and Sam Isbell.The Queens jumped out to a 3-0 first period lead and added a single goal in the second. The teams then played a scoreless third period.Bailey Chenier recorded the shutout while Carlie Pennock was solid for the Thunderwolves. The next league game is Tuesday between the Thunderwolves and the Queens Midget A.


October 27th, 2014 The Lakehead University Thunderwolves Womens hockey team defeated Rainy River College 2-1 in overtime to claim the bronze game in International Falls Minnesota on Sunday. Hope Fullum scored the winner with 7 seconds remaining in the first overtime period. Rainy River College had scored with 3 minutes left in the third, but Lakehead rallied to tie the game with just 1 minute left in the game on a goal by Lauren Haskell. Winning goalie for the Thunderwolves Carlie Pennock was spectacular in net. The Thunder bay Queens Midget A team defeated Con College Thunderhawks 3-0 to claim the gold.


October 19th, 2014 The Lakehead University Thunderwolves Womens hockey team split two games on Saturday at TC#1. In the first game against the Queens Bantam AA a goal by Melissa Plug in the third proved to be the winner and an empty netter by Farrah Nicholl iced the game. Final score 4-2. Other scorers for the Thunderwolves were Jordan Currie and Michelle Carlson. Ellen Svane and Brooke Herman replied for the Queens. The second game between the Thunderwolves and the Midget Fury was a see-saw affair with the Fury scoring a late goal by Breanna Veneruz to edge the Thunderwolves 4-3. Also scoring wasJelayna Heroux,Gabby Gascoigne and Kristen Dangelo. Replying for LU was Alicia |Todd, Lauren Haskell and Martina Wintle. The Lakehead Thunderwolves next action will be in International Falls at the Rainy River College Invitational Tournament on October 24-26.The Confederation College Thunderhawks and the Queens Midget A teams will also participate in this event.


October 15th, 2014 The Lakehead University Thunderwolves Womens hockey club played to a 1-1 tie with the Queens Midget A team on Tueday night at Grandview Arena in the newly formed womens league. Goal scorers were Emily Martin for the Thunderwolves and Mikayla Sparks replying for the Queens. Solid goaltending by both Carlie Pennock of the Thunderwolves and Taylor Gombola seen the teams remain scoreless for two periods before each team tallied once in the third. Next league game is Wednesday at 6 @ FWFN between the Confederation College Thunderhawks and the Queens Midget AA.


August 27th, 2014 The Lakehead University Thunderwolves Womens Hockey Club are entering the 3rd year of operation with a very promising year planned. they will be competing in a local league along with Confederation College Thunder Hawks, and both Queens Midget teams. The schedule should begin after Thanksgiving Day weekend. The Dryden High school team will also play within the loop. Also the Thunderwolves look to play in the Rainy River College Invitational tournament at the end of October. Other teams slated are the St, Scholastica and the Midget A Queens. The local college is also hosting their 8-Team tourney in mid November as well as the Queens Showcase in early December. The Lakehead University club will also be travelling to Duluth to play the UMD club team in early March.The open tryout is Sept. 16 and 17 at Port Arthur Arena. Their are rumors of many new faces attempting to become part of this years club so competition will be intense and selections will be tough to fill.
